Hotel Accommodation in Kalispell

• A WorldWeb.com Travel Guide for Kalispell, Montana.
The mountain town of Kalispell in Montana's scenic Flathead Valley attracts and serves a variety of visitors. Many descend on the city in summer to visit Flathead Lake, the largest natural fresh water lake west of the Mississippi River, or Glacier National Park, which affords breathtaking summer views of sparkling glaciers along with dramatic and beautiful hiking. In winter, the nearby Whitefish Mountain Resort draws skiers and snowboarders and mountain enthusiasts. Kalispell is also the trade center for residents of three local counties, meaning the small city also is home to retail outlets that give it a commercial feel.

Regardless of why visitors find themselves in the area, there is a wide choice of accommodation available in Kalispell, including numerous hotels and motels. Everyone from budget bargain hunters to those looking for a little more luxury are well serviced and can find suitable places to rest after a day of outdoor activities.

NORTH OF TOWN / HIGHWAY 93

As the city grows in a northerly direction towards Glacier National Park and the ski resort, it creeps closer to its neighbor, the smaller, artsy town of Whitefish, and one senses that perhaps they may merge in the future. Between Kalispell and Whitefish there are a limited number of chain hotels, both upscale and budget that bring the gap between the two cities closer. These accommodations give visitors proximity to the services and attractions of both communities, as well as convenient access to the area's airport, the ski slopes and the national park

HIGHWAY 2 / AIRPORT

Visitors to Kalispell often arrive via Glacier Park International Airport, which sits a few miles northeast of the city along Highway 2 and is also along the route to Glacier National Park. As a result there are several chain hotels and locally owned and operated motels along Highway 2 and visitors can avail themselves of the complimentary airport transfers at a few of the larger chain hotels.

SOUTH OF TOWN / FLATHEAD LAKE

A proportion of the 1600 rooms available in the greater Kalispell area are located at the southern end of the city due to its proximity to Flathead Lake, which lies seven mi (11 km) to the south. The Outlaw Inn and the Aero Inn are two such properties, both with indoor pools and hot tubs as well as complimentary breakfasts.

There are also a limited number of hotel-style properties between the city and the tiny communities of Lakeside and Somers, which are situated along Highway 93 at the northern end of the lake.

It is worth noting that the Kalispell City Airport, which is a general aviation airport rather than a commercial one, is also located south of the city. It is easy to confuse with Glacier Park International to the north, as Kalispell hotels may mention their close proximity to the City Airport.

DOWNTOWN KALISPELL

Visitors wishing to stay in the center of the city can do so at a couple of hotels, including the historic Kalispell Grand Hotel. The Red Lion is another option that is located next to the Kalispell Center Mall and boasts an indoor swimming pool.
